Thing 4: more thoughts

Well, shoot, it's happened. This Library 2.0 thing has wiggled its way into my personal life. In the shower this morning, from whence all truly brilliant ideas originate, I found myself thinking about other uses for Flickr.

Other potential uses:

You are a high school teacher, doing a project on what the kids did over the summer. Each student has to post a photo to Flickr representative of how they spent their summer. Doubtless you'll also make them write an essay on it and stand up in front of the class to talk about it.

You work at a public library, and you took photos for the midnight release of the new Harry Potter book. The next day, you post the party photos to Flickr, and put them on the library blog for the viewing enjoyment of library patrons.

You work in a library, and it is your job to train shelvers on the proper way to maneuver booktrucks and handle books so as to prevent injury. You create a set of photos on the do's and don't's of book handling, which you will incorporate into your training program.

You work in an academic library. Due to budget constraints, you no longer have the staff necessary to lead tours in the library. Additionally, you want remote users to get a sense of the library layout. You create a virtual tour of the library, using photographs and captions of the stacks and public service desks.

Ah, the possibilities.
